Until the advent of 24-hour news channels, TV and radio programs only interrupted programming for breaking news events such as an assassination, weather emergencies, or major sporting events. During these “cut-ins,” the lower third of the screen displayed the headline and a ticker of the latest information, while the anchor spoke live about the story.
The CHI 2025 late-breaking abstracts program recognizes that not all high impact research results will be available by the regular abstract submission deadline. The late-breaking abstract deadline is intended to provide an opportunity for investigators to present their work at the meeting if they have recently obtained relevant data, and it is of significant clinical or scientific importance.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of SfN members who are experts in the field. Selections will be highly competitive. Accepted late-breaking abstracts will be presented in a special poster session during the meeting.
A late-breaking abstract may not be a revision of an abstract submitted by the normal submission deadline, nor can it report data from a previous study (unless it is a phase 2/3 trial). The results reported must be novel, and they should also have sufficient impact to merit presentation at this meeting.
SfN members may only be listed as presenting authors on one late-breaking abstract. If an individual is a presenting author on two late-breaking abstracts, they will be asked to withdraw one of the proposals. Presenters of late-breaking abstracts are required to register for the event at which they will present. If you are presenting your late-breaking abstract remotely, please purchase a virtual-only registration.
