How to Offer a Daily Update in Your Actions
A daily update is a report or summary of events, progress, or changes that occur on a daily basis. For example, the team provides a daily update on project developments during morning meetings.
You can offer daily updates in your Action to provide value to users on a regular basis. When users subscribe to an Action’s daily updates, they receive Assistant notifications on their device at the time of day that you schedule them to arrive. The user must invoke your Action to receive a notification, and they can select the button in the notification to start the daily update conversation.
To configure your Action to offer daily updates, add a daily update subscription flow to one of the intents in your Action. You can then use Dialogflow or the Actions SDK to prompt the user for their preferred schedule for receiving the daily updates. This prompt can be given mid-conversation, or it can appear as a suggestion chip when the conversation ends. As a best practice, you should always show the benefit of subscribing to your daily update to your user before you prompt them to register. You should also avoid prompting the user for their preferred daily update schedule too frequently or in multiple contexts within the same conversation.
Daily updates can be a great way to keep teammates informed about key organisational activities and projects. They are often asynchronous and short, and can help teams communicate more effectively than longer synchronous meetings that may not fit into everyone’s busy schedules.
